White Flag, I Give UP!

Okay, so who wants to change the subject? Oh, that would be me. SO…read any good books lately? What’s on your TBR pile? (And if anyone mentions a certain book that begins with an F, I may have to resort to a smack down). This summer I read a ton. Tried to write a ton…

Addendum To Today's Post

Well, I had a problem. After today’s blog, I began to receive comments that I wasn’t comfortable with. I decided not to post them. And then an astute blogger quoted my own words back to me. If we refuse to discuss the sin, how can point people toward the cross. Um, yeah. Point taken. So,…

Hey, My Book Has Sex In It!

Still with me? Thought so. 🙂 In light of the whole Miley Cyrus fiasco, along with the casting pics for 50 Shades of Gray that have just been released, I’ve decided to let you all know that, yes, my book has sex in it. Actually, both of them do. But if you’re looking for…

What In The World?

The past few days I’ve been reading news stories, blogs, Facebook posts and Tweets, and I shake my head. The first story that grabbed my attention and won’t let go is this one – African Rock Python Escapes, Kills Two Boys. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/story/2013/08/09/nb-illegal-animals-campbellton-snake.html Say what? How the heck does this kind of thing happen? It’s so tragic…

How Honest Can I Be?

So I haven’t blogged in a while. Life kind of got in the way. I kind of got in the way of myself. And so on and so forth. But really, honestly? I don’t feel I have much to say these days. I read a lot of blogs that have things to say. Writers who…

Are You Stuck?

Sometimes I’m paralyzed by fear. Fear isn’t exactly the right word. It’s more a feeling of being extremely leery of the unknown. Not knowing what tomorrow will bring. This is nothing new. For who can know the future? I doubt even those psychics who claim to, really see visions of what life will be like…

*GASP* Is That A Sinner Over There? Somebody Wake Up The Church! (So They Can Lock The Doors).

The title of this blog alone is probably enough to send most God-fearing good Christians running for the hills. I can hear it now. Yet another church bashing rant. Please. Save it. We hear it all the time and you’re wrong. Simply wrong. Okay, fair enough. Maybe I am. But I’m not out to bash…

When Dreams Come True…

Most little girls dream about their wedding day. I did. I know my daughter did. You probably did too. Guys I’m not so sure about. I suspect they dream more about the honeymoon. In any event, as we grow and mature, we may have more specific ideas of what that wedding day will look like.…

What Do You (Really) Want To Say?

Ever had those moments where you just need to speak your mind? It builds like a slow burning fire, until finally you can’t stand it anymore and you let her rip. Yeah, me neither. Kidding. I get those moments a lot. I read something, hear something, see something that immediately kicks my heart-rate into high…

Bittersweet Goodbyes

We lost Dad on April 22nd. April 2013 will go down as a month we never want to repeat. I could never have imagined losing my father-in-law just a month shy of my daughter’s wedding. Never. Yet, here we are. I didn’t know if I would write about this. I didn’t know whether I could.…

When the World Stopped

March 30, 2020 |

It took a couple hours to get through the cobwebs to find this page. It’s been a little over a year since I wrote my last blog post. I figured it was a waste of time, and I had better things to do. Better things to spend my time on. Time was precious. And now there…

The Next Best Step

March 25, 2019 |

The one sure thing about life, the one thing you can pretty much count on, is that it won’t always be easy. You know this. You’ve already been through some tough stuff. And you’ve survived. Maybe even triumphed. But then it all comes back for a second round. Or a third. Maybe you’re getting hit…

What To Do With Fear and Failure and Other Nuisances

February 18, 2019 |

I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m fine. Maybe you’re familiar with the mantra? It’s easy to say. Easy to repeat. And easy to convince yourself of. Because if you say something enough times, eventually you begin to believe it. Even if it’s not true. So last week I wrote about change, and how I was going…

Change. Again.

February 9, 2019 |

I didn’t pick a word for the year. I don’t know why, really. I guess I didn’t give it much thought. But now I kind of feel the word picked me. Change. Ironically, it was my word for 2015. And I wrote this blog post about it. Just a few months before I would announce…

Maybe It’s Time

December 27, 2018 |

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”  — Eleanor Roosevelt. So we…

So Where Hope Begins is now out in the big wide world. Godspeed, my lovely. And yesterday was a little nuts. The nerves. The onslaught of notifications.

Tried to write a ton too but I think I read more. One of my favorites was Dani Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage Series. Can’t wait to read the third one. I started a book by British author Kate Atkinson – pretty good. Need to get back to it. Discovered a few new to me authors, which is always fun. Recently finished Julie Klassen’s The Tutor’s Daughter. Love Julie’s books.

Movies – didn’t have the best luck. I hated The Place Beyond The Pines, even though reviews raved over it. I thought Ryan Gosling looked like a douche the whole time and the plot was pretty boring. They could have done so much more with that story line. A couple other ones I couldn’t get my head around…one with Tom Cruise in it. I guess I’m just not into cloning. Olympus Has Fallen was all about blowing up the White House, but Gerard Butler was in it so who cares…The Call was just SO DUMB it should have been a comedy…and then 42. By far, the best movie we downloaded all summer. I can’t wait to see The Butler. Sounds like it’ll be another The Help. Must say, its release was timed perfectly with MLK events, right?

Next week I’ll be in Indy at the ACFW conference, which I can’t wait for. So I probably won’t be posting for a while. Actually after yesterday I wasn’t sure I’d ever blog again…sheesh.

And as I am sitting here writing this, I’m having major brain fog. Lack of sleep plus cold medication is doing a doozy on me, which is why I will not attempt to have any profound conversations today. If you do choose to leave a comment, please stick to the topic at hand. Which would be what books and/or movies you’ve read and enjoyed lately.

Have a great weekend!
